The upcoming Prince Mahidol Award Conference (PMAC) 2016 is set to be held in Bangkok, Thailand from the 26th to the 31st of January 2016. This event is hosted by the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation, the Thai Ministry of Public Health and Mahidol University in collaboration with its global partners. The PMAC 2016 is co-hosted by the WHO, the World Bank, the Global Fund, JICA, USAID, China Medical Board, the Rockefeller Foundation, NICE International, BGMF, and the National Evidence-based Healthcare Collaborating Agency, South Korea with support from other key organizations.

The PMAC 2016 as a policy forum functions as a platform for advocacy and gaining cohesion and understanding in international perspectives of global health issues. This year, the PMAC 2016 focuses on priority setting as a means towards achieving universal health coverage. Its objectives include:

  1. To advocate and build momentum on evidence-informed priority setting and policy decisions to achieve UHC goals;

  2. To advocate for the global movement and collaborations to strengthen the priority setting of health interventions and technology in the long-term;

  3. To share knowledge, experience, and viewpoints on health-related priority setting among organizations and countries; and

  4. To build capacity of policymakers and respective stakeholders for development and introduction of contextually-relevant priority setting mechanisms in support of UHC

The conference thus aptly consolidates and exposes the perspectives of stakeholders from different sectors in policy, academics, medical, NGOs and other movements in the public health field.
