India have set up the body Health Technology Assessment in India (HTAIn) under the Department of Health Research (DHR), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW). This marks India’s ongoing commitment to using HTA to extend healthcare services and pursue Universal Health Coverage. HITAP are thrilled by this news, and are also pleased to be mentioned in the DHR January E-newsletter under the section ‘Capacity Building’.
Among other activities, HITAP participated in the 1st Consultative Meeting and Workshop in July 2016, and conducted training during an introductory technical workshop on HTA held by DHR and the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology (SCTIMST) in May 2017.
