Dr. Daniel Kertesz, WHO Representative (WR) to Thailand and Dr. Liviu Vedrasco, Programme Officer WHO Thailand Country Office, visited the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP) to learn about HITAP’s work in Thailand and the region as well as to discuss collaboration.
Dr. Yot Teerawattananon welcomed the guests and introduced the HITAP team in attendance namely, Ms. Waranya Rattanavipapong, Ms. Sirirat Varamali, Ms. Suthasinee Kumluang, Ms. Nitichen Kittiratchakool, Ms. Akanittha Poonchai, Mr. Wittawat Chatchawanpreecha and Ms. Saudamini Dabak.
Ms. Suthasinee Kumluang presented on HITAP’s role in healthcare decision making in Thailand and delineated the process for the development of the benefits package for the Universal Coverage Scheme (UCS) and the National List of Essential Medicines (NLEM) using health technology assessment (HTA). Ms. Saudamini Dabak spoke about HITAP’s work in the region to support evidence-informed policy making as part of the International Decision Support Initiative (iDSI), with a focus on collaboration with WHO at the country, regional and global levels.
