On 14August 2018, Dr. Mayfong Mayxay, Vice-Dean of the Research department at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies in Laos University of Health Science, visited the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP) to learn about Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and to discuss potential collaboration with HITAP and our partner, Access and Delivery Partnership (ADP), particularly in HITAP’s internship program and research collaboration.

Ms. Saudamini Dabak, HITAP Technical Advisor, welcomed the guest and introduced ADP representative in attendance namely Ms. Cecilia Oh, and the HITAP team in attendance, and gave a presentation on the importance of HTA and HITAP’s role in healthcare decision making both in Thailand and other counties in the region.

Afterwards, Ms. Oh presented on ADP’s role in promoting research and health development (R&D) especially for tuberculosis (TB), malaria and neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), as well as promoting the access to and delivery of new health technologies in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The visit concluded with the discussion on future collaboration between HITAP, ADP and Lao University of Health Sciences.
